The Great Hall (2017)
Captured during a workshop in the Page, AZ area, led by fine art photographer Alain Briot. This workshop centered around composition and artistic style; the subjects for the photo shoots were Page and its surroundings, most notably the stunning upper and lower Antelope Canyons.
These slot canyons are on Navajo land, so to visit, a Navajo guide is required. While quite touristy, the majestic beauty of the underground canyons is hard to beat. Light shafts, shifting according to time of year, and of course time of day, provide fun subjects to photograph. The Navajo guides frequently will throw sand into the column to give the photographer an opportunity to better capture the shaft in camera.
The above photograph was taken in upper Antelope canyon. I liked the repeating wall patterns on the right of the image, and the ghostly appearance of the light shaft.
